Maine Horse and Dressage Rider Rank 7th in the
USEF National Developing Horse Program
At the age of 6, Unika, a Dutch Warmblood took the dressage world by storm ending his first season in competition as the Region 8 Second Level Champion and also ranked number 1 Dutch Warmblood in the Nation. Standing tall at 17.3, Unika has captivated the attention of the audience in the dressage ring and now at age 8 and his second season in competition, Unika has done it again. Unika and Jennifer Wilson-Horr owner, trainer, and rider of Cedar Hill Farm in Springvale, Maine are currently ranked 7th in the USEF National Developing Horse program.
Unika and Jennifer’s story began in 2004 when Jennifer purchased Unika from Iron Spring Farms in Coatesville, PA as a 3 year-old. Unika’s aptitude and love for dressage runs in the family. Unika’s half brother Ravel along with trainer and rider Steffen Peters are the 2009 Rolex FEI World Cup Dressage and Freestyle winner.
Jennifer has worked diligently with Unika to bring him up from his debut at Second level to Prix St. George level. As Unika’s appetite to excel continued Jennifer decided to enter the USEF Developing Horse Program.
In order to qualify for the National Championships Unika and Jennifer attended three events within Region 8 that offered the specific developing horse test. The average of the top two scores was taken to create the placement within the ranking list for horse and rider combinations. Only the top 15 United States horse and rider combinations will be invited to compete at the 2009 National Developing Horse Championships at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois on August 21, 2009 through August 23, 2009.
Jennifer and Unika are excited at the opportunity to compete nationally and are actively seeking sponsors to help with the traveling costs for Unika, Jennifer, trainer Mary Howard, and family members to attend the championship.
